about

INSPIRATION BEHIND ST. ANTHONY'S

My baptismal sponsor/God-mother gave my biological mom five rupees every month for my education and upbringing for 45 long years until her death in 2020. She was a convert and wasn't rich by any means but supported me all through.

DO LITTLE THINGS WITH GREAT LOVE

WHAT DOES THE BISHOP HAVE TO SAY?

Fr. Mohana R Bathineni, a priest of my diocese, working in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in KS, founded St. Anthony's Catholic Society with the sole intention of helping our diocese financially with its many ministries.

WHY DOES : -

WHY DOES THE DIOCESE OF GUNTUR STRUGGLE FINANCIALLY GIVEN INDIA'S FAST-GROWING ECONOMY?

It is because ever since St. Thomas, the Apostle, came to India, it was the poor lower caste people that were attracted to Christianity and it remains the same today.

Since financial support from the laity is nominal, it is the bishop who pays the priests and takes care of their health as well as retirement.

WHERE DOES THE BISHOP GET THE MONEY FROM?

He makes appeals, writes grants, seeks assistance from the Vatican, sends out his priests to work overseas so that they can support the diocese by giving a part of their salary to the bishop.

Priority of St. Anthony's this year

My own parish is bifurcated into two different parishes last year and a new parish of Jesus the Light was erected with 600 families consisting of 6 missions.

Diocesan priority this year

To date we don't have any CCD program for our children. This program needs $150,000 to provide all 140 parishes with basic teaching and study material.
